de Havilland DH.88 Comet “Grosvenor House” Banking Display – Shuttleworth Airshow
Description
The iconic de Havilland DH.88 Comet G-ACSS “Grosvenor House” captured banking gracefully during the Shuttleworth Opening Season Airshow at Old Warden, Bedfordshire.
Designed specifically for the 1934 MacRobertson Air Race from England to Australia, the DH.88 was one of the most advanced racing aircraft of its era, featuring a streamlined wooden airframe, retractable undercarriage and twin Gipsy Six engines.
Still airworthy today as part of the Shuttleworth Collection, “Grosvenor House” remains one of the world’s most recognisable pre-war racing aircraft
